Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

Welcome Russ, I never was a Jw but I am married to one, although she is quite liberal. My kids ( 26,21 and 13 ) aren't. The family of my wife ( parents and siblings ) are all Jws.
We share a lot of interests as science, weight lifting, writing and classical guitar. My question is;" did you always have these interests or only after you left the Jws?"

OrphanCrow, I am reading the doctoral dissertation of Dr. Jena Barchas and you're absolutely right that she isn't a Jw. -

Very interesting read even if I did not understand it 100% ( English is my 4th language ) and my first reaction is ; " How the hell can she be so smart and skilled and still be a Jw?" I think, though, it is unfair to say so because I was Catholic ( remember Galileo ??) and still am superstitious ( black cats, ladders aso ).
If I could ever meet this lady I would ask her what is behind this mysterial language of the Jehovah's. When my wife told me she was a Jw and invited ( very bad ) me for a dinner with her family for the first time in my life i heard words as ; wordling, elder, overseer, meeting, assembly, pioneer, field service, and bla, bla, bla....

New Apostate: Tempest in a Teacup
by Tempest in a Teacup infirst post on here.
i've been lurking for 3-4 years and i mean i've been a mega lurker, doing marathon reading sessions for months or weeks.. sometimes i proceed by researching specific topics, or posters; other times just reading current discussions.
i'm particularly fond of "old" post, i.e 10-12-15 years ago.. i have laughed, smiled, got mad, cried etc, just reading some threads here.. as you can see i suffer from some kind of "accute lurkitis".

FayeDunaway, I would immediately exclude Southern Europe, even if " we " have the pope we are fare ahead on for example North America concerning gay rights, euthanasia, abortion and death penalty.
Most probably it is South America, if we check the yearbook 2015 we see that the biggest part of the increase of new Jws is in Latin Amrica and Usa ( mainly latino immigrants I guess ).
It is up to the USA, like the cigarettes ( Philipp Morris ??) you started as first smoking, producing and selling them but also the first to realize it was bad and stopped smoking.
Let us hope that somebody will stop this born in the Usa stuff, maybe with the help of Irwin Zalkin and the american judges.... -

It was very nice reading you and I am convinced that there are a lot of Jws like you, for example my wife. How else could an ex non practisant catholic live with her?

Prank call to Governing Body member Anthony Morris III gets through
by Watchtower-Free inalert..............alert.....breaking news .......... john cedars of jwsurvey has pranked called governing body member anthony morris iii at bethel .
over 2 minutes of pranking .
as i type he is editing the recording into a video .

The only interesting thing was that ho could speak for a while to GB member and this will have some consequences for " some brothers " at Bethel. I don't see a winner or a looser.
My personal opinion is that John Cedars is loosing credibility and his latest posts/ actions are full of anger, resentment and desire for vengeance
How to blame him, he was convinced/ obliged by his mother to attend MTS ( a nonsense school ) and we know what happened, he lives in a strange country and is being shunned by his whole family.
My sincere advice ; step out of this ex jw activity for a while and build a new live, go back to UK and try to get some real skills because you will get nowhere if you continue fighting like this against the Wts.

My mother says I should just DA already.
by Julia Orwell incut the cord.
sever all ties.
start new.. and she's right.

Hi Julia,
try to focus on your real life and not to think about them ( easy to say ). It is not important wether you DA Or DF, important is that with your mind you are out of the cult.
What about your book, the opal ring, are you still writing? i am very interested because I wrote a book myself and I don't know what to do with it.....

Is Watchtower's stance against education only for North American witnesses
by wannaexit ini was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.
this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.
it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.
